At Glenfield Dental we aim to provide our patients with dentures that are:
- Enhance your face and smile
- Boost your confidence
- Improve your chewing efficiency
Dentures are a brilliant way to replace missing teeth and here at Glenfield Dental we can create dentures to suit every budget. We only use the very best materials to deliver high quality and durable strength, providing patients with a stunning, stylish and functional denture.
Complete and partial dentures
We provide both complete and partial dentures at Glenfield Dental, as well as implant retained dentures.
Complete dentures replace all of the teeth, whereas partial dentures fit around all of your natural teeth, only replacing those you have lost.
Here at Glenfield Dental, we recommend partial dentures to patients missing a number of teeth on one arch. The three types of partial dentures we offer are acrylic, chrome and flexible.
Acrylic partial dentures
Acrylic partial dentures are supported by the soft tissue of the gums. The plastic components surround the natural teeth but don’t require specific support from them. Occasionally, acrylic partial dentures have metal clasps to keep the denture securely in place.
Chrome partial dentures
Chrome partial dentures are made from an alloy of chromium and cobalt and are incredibly strong. Supported by the remaining teeth, they are very light to wear. Although the base is made from metal, we use acrylic to attach artificial teeth to the denture framework.
Flexible partial dentures
Flexible partial dentures are made from a barely visible, flexible plastic material that fits perfectly into the mouth. This type of partial denture doesn’t require clasps to keep it in place. Flexible partial dentures are hypo-allergenic and blend with the natural movements of your mouth.
Complete dentures replace all of your teeth and when constructed by our highly experienced technician we can restore your facial aesthetics to the correct proportions, making you look and feel younger.
Copy dentures are a new set of dentures created using your existing set of dentures.
Copy dentures can be used as a replacement for an older set of dentures or as a spare set.
As there’s no need to have castings taken of your mouth, we can produce copy dentures fairly quickly and there is usually no need for fittings to be carried out as they are already tailored to fit your mouth.
Denture construction at Glenfield Dental
First of all, we will need to take initial impressions of your teeth and gums to make a record of your bite. We will then work with you to help you decide upon the most suitable tooth shade for your denture teeth.
From the impressions, we will make a wax version of the denture so that we can check that the bite is correct, as well as ensuring that it fits properly and feels comfortable.
Finally, your dentures will be fitted and after making any necessary minor adjustments, we will give you plenty of advice on how to take care of your new teeth.
Dentures are designed to last for several years, but if you have complete or partial dentures you will need to visit us frequently to ensure your denture stays secure.
Denture stabilisation with implant retained dentures
Although dentures are built to last for a long time, eventually they may start to become loose. Implant retained dentures are a superb long-term solution to the issue of loose dentures and are especially useful for teeth on the lower jaw. Implant retained dentures have transformed the lives of many Glenfield Dental patients as they are now able to regain function and laugh, eat, talk and smile with full confidence.
